Balboa Park – Hillcrest Canyons

Balboa Park has a couple of finger canyons that enter the Hillcrest area. There are five different entrances with varying levels of ride-ability.

Northern Canyon:

  • Vermont St at Cypress Ave
  • Richmond St south of Cypress Ave – short section of stairs at the entrance
  • Richmond St north of Brookes Ave – long section of stairs at the entrance

All the trails meet near the freeway. Southern trail is a short section of singletrack.

Southern Canyon:

  • Myrtle Way – long sections of stairs at the entrance
  • Upas St – Paved access to the Upas St Pedestrian OC over the 163 Freeway
