San Diego Bicycling – Rose Canyon

This canyon provides some dirt connections in the UTC area. The southwestern portion of the trail is paved and connects Santa Fe Ave with Gilman Dr. The remaining portion has two sections, one on either side of the canyon. The northern trail is mostly singletrack and runs long the railroad line. The southern trail runs along an abandoned alignment of the railroad, with two trestles still intact. The southern trail also connects to San Clemente Canyon via a narrow and sometimes steep singletrack trail. That portion can be difficult as there is one large stream crossing, and a very narrow path underneath the SR-52 freeway.
