Local San Diego Wine Event

Taste several San Diego County vintners at one place.

Brought to you by the San Diego County Vintners Association (SDCVA), a non-profit trade association that supports the wine making community throughout San Diego County. With about 140 artisan and family-owned wineries and vineyards throughout the county, and a wide range of micro climates allowing for cultivation of a wide variety of grape types, San Diego County wine country is extremely diverse.  The ways to enjoy San Diego wine are diverse, too. From stylish urban wineries, to award-winning tasting rooms and picturesque vineyards, San Diego provides an array of ways to discover artisanal wines.

New San Diego County Wine Tasting Room

Congratulations to Malcom, Nancy and Michael Gray on the grand opening of their new wine tasting room and production facility in San Marcos!

Twin Oaks Valley Winery recently celebrated their grand opening weekend in March with over 200 guests on Saturday alone!  This was a family affair with several family members on board for the weekend’s festivities which include live music and food both days.

Yet another fine winery in San Diego’s North County pouring several year’s releases of many different varietals and blends.  You can find them Fridays through Sundays at 1575 Mulberry Drive in San Marcos.

Wineries of Cucamonga Valley – Now Online!

As planned, our new addition to the wineries page, a site on the wineries in the Cucamonga Valley of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties is now online. This new website was written by our wine correspondent, Russ Connelly of San Diego. Mind you, there are only three wineries, but these three have some really good stuff. I recommend checking it out and experience some of the last remaining local wine making in the Inland Empire.

New Feature Coming Soon – Cucamonga Valley Wineries

As this website is dedicated to providing the best coverage possible for a wide variety of subjects, it is time for another expansion. This time, the wineries of the Cucamonga Valley will be covered. These remaining wineries are a part of the history of the area and of California winemaking. We expect to have this new page up and running in the next month or so. Stay tuned for updates.

San Diego Winery Showcase

Congratulations to the members of the San Diego Wine Country Association on another fine event held recently on the grounds of the Bernardo Winery.  A dozen local wineries, including some without tasting rooms or local sales presence were on hand to pour one or two of their featured wines.

For a few vintners, this is their only means of getting the word out about their wines as well as giving long established wineries a chance to reach out to long time friends and customers all at the same time.  Good to meet some new folks who are new to the San Diego wine scene.

It was also good to see grapes on the Bernardo Winery grounds.  It is always amazing to see vines and grapes growing in the middle of a housing subdivision!
