Imperial County Cities

Imperial County is California’s newest county, formed in 1907 following the Salton Sea flooding. It was formerly a part of San Diego County. The area is well known for its agricultural products and, of course, the Salton Sea. The bulk of the population lives south of the Salton Sea in cities with the remainder of the land being either agriculture or undeveloped desert. The northeast portion of the county, mostly mountainous, is a part of a military bombing range.
