Los Angeles County Cities

Nicknamed the “Queen of the Counties”, Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the state and is home to its namesake, Los Angeles. When it was created in 1850, it was a much larger county, encompassing portions of present-day Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange Counties. It gradually shrunk and eventually achieved its present odd and somewhat pointy shape in the 1890’s. Los Angeles County is also home to numerous movie studios and aerospace industries. The county is also quite diverse in its geography, with dry deserts, high mountains, and wide sandy beaches all within close proximity.
