Ubehebe Crater

Ubehebe Crater is a volcanic crater formed between 2 and 7 kya as a result of hot magma rising along a fault line reaching the groundwater, causing a steam explosion. This sort of feature is known as a Maar and isn’t a volcano in the normal sense. No lava flows emanated from this area. Adjacent to Ubehebe Crater is Little Hebe Crater, a smaller version, formed around the same time.
