In 1934, Foothill Blvd. was extended from Roxford St. to Sierra Highway to alleviate the congestion at the Tunnel Station Junction. The original highway was two lanes wide and concrete. This section remains almost untouched from that era. It was bypassed in 1972 when this section of the Foothill Freeway was opened. In early 2004 this section was mostly resurfaced, leaving a small section just west of Glenoaks Blvd.
