This section of highway was built in 1938 as an extension of Sepulveda Blvd from Brand Blvd to San Fernando Road. The outer lanes are concrete and the center lane is asphalt. The center lane was a common passing lane or “Suicide Lane”. It was bypassed in 1963 when I-405 was constructed. Today, it is still known as Sepulveda Blvd between San Fernando Road and Roxford St. It is known as Blucher Avenue north of Rinaldi St to I-5.
