The 60 freeway is one of the busier freeways in the Los Angeles area. It is one of the main truck routes to the east and it shows it. The eastern portion of the route, from the 71 east to the 10 was formerly US 60, though not all the present freeway was signed as such. The far eastern end of the 60 actually has a couple of at-grade intersections, though that may change in the future as traffic gets heavier.

At the west end of the 60, it joins with many of the major freeways in Los Angeles:
