SR-76: Mission Expressway / Pala Road

Mission Expressway / Pala Road
Runs from I-5 in Oceanside to State 79 at Moretti’s Junction near Lake Henshaw

Highway 76 roughly follows the course of the San Luis Rey River from near its mouth to the Lake Henshaw area. It is a varied route, being a busy commuter route from I-5 to I-15, a casino access route from I-5 to County S6 near Rincon, and a quieter two-lane route from S6 to State 79. This highway is also the main access route to Palomar Mountain, site of a large telescope. A portion of the route, from E. Vista Way (County S13) to S. Mission Road (also County S13) was the alignment of US 395 until 1947.
