US 466 – Rocky Canyon Road

US 466
Rocky Canyon Road

Eastern segment of Rocky Canyon Road, looking west.
Junction with State 229 and Rocky Canyon Road.

This road had the distinction of being the last section of dirt US Highway in California. Instead of being paved, the whole roadway was bypassed in 1959 when US 466 was shifted onto then-SR 41 to Paso Robles. Today, the central section of Rocky Canyon Road is no longer maintained as a public highway and remains as a trail. The eastern section is still accessible as a dirt road for a few miles west of State 229.
