Short section of old alignment at State 58.

At Bealville, US 466 met State Route 223 – Bear Mountain Blvd. It is also one of the connections to the town of Caliente, along the railroad line in the canyon below. On July 21, 1952, the area was rocked by the M7.2 Arvin-Tehachapi earthquake, which caused heavy damage throughout the region. The fault line responsible for the event, the White Wolf Fault, crossed the highway near here as well. A “mole track” was created by the movement of the fault, which partially offset the highway. The junction is presently the only at-grade crossing on State 58 between Mojave and Bakersfield.
