In 1938, Sierra Highway was built through here. A bridge had to be built over Placerita Canyon.  Connector roads extending from Placerita Canyon Road were built to allow traffic access to Placerita Canyon. In 1968, the bridge was eliminated when the highway was widened. Very little remains of the original roadways around here. In 1972, the Antelope Valley Freeway was opened bypassing Sierra Highway.
