This is the northern end of the Antelope Valley Freeway and the last freeway old US 6 will see until I-15 in Utah. The freeway was extended here from Rosamond in 1972. North of this point until Mojave, former US 6 is buried beneath the northbound lanes of the State 14 expressway.

About 1/2 mile north of Silver Queen Road on Sierra Highway, some old paving can be found. This paving, albeit degraded, shows roughly what US 6 would have been like prior to the freeway. This section was originally paved with a 15′ concrete slab and was rehabilitated with asphalt in 1940 from here to Mojave.
