Turnoff to the central portion of Railroad Valley

Until a few years ago, Lockes was the site of one of the “loneliest” gas stations on US 6. It was about 80 miles in each direction for fuel. Before the days of gasoline, Lockes was also a stage stop. Little remains today. The valley today is, however, home to a small oil field. At one point, a railroad was planned to pass through this way, but was never constructed, hence the name “Railroad Valley”.
