Castaic marks the beginning (or ending) of the trip over the mountains. This begins the “Ridge Route” section. Sadly, a major portion of the climb has been wiped out for development. Curbing, concrete, and the alignment itself were still relatively intact until it was bulldozed for houses. As a greater insult, the new realigned roadway was also named the Ridge Route. The still intact segment of the original alignment begins as Neely St, then Ridge Route Road to Castaic Lake Drive and only goes to Castaic Brick. Use “Ridge Route Road” to continue onto the original Ridge Route, which begins just north of the Northlake Hills Elementary School.
