Tonopah is one of many towns along US 6 and US 95 founded by miners in the early 1900’s. This town marks the last town along US 6 until Ely, NV, 167 miles east. It is highly advisable to fill up on food and fuel in this town as Ely is the next fuel stop. The distance between Tonopah and Ely along US 6 is the longest gap between services in the lower 48.
