Central McFarland along the 99 freeway.

McFarland is another small farming town along US 99 and the Southern Pacific Railroad. US 99 was upgraded to an expressway here about 1950 and then to a full freeway in 1963. A small portion of the old alignment is used as a frontage road on the east side of the freeway from Sherwood Ave to Perkins Ave. McFarland also marked the northern end of the six-lane freeway until about 2000 when the extra lanes were extended north to the Tulare County line at Delano.
