The San Diego area offers many diverse opportunities for kayaking. Ranging from flatwater to ocean, most of the places available are open water areas. With little exception, the rivers and streams are not navigable in San Diego County by kayak. However, there are plenty of bays, reservoirs, lakes, and ocean to kayak around.
This page covers places to launch and things to see out there on the water around the County. Most are free, though some City reservoirs do charge a launch fee.
