As an addition to the “High Points” on the Highways pages, I have added a new page which summarizes all the major passes in Southern California. Postmiles, or mileposts, have also been added as well to the list. If you see any missing or find some errors in the data, let me know.
The other one is where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses it. . Maybe a trail guide has it?
I added both. I couldn’t find an exact name for the PCT crossing. So after reviewing topographical map, I used Johnston Grade Summit, as that is the name of the grade to the north. Seemed to fit. Elevation was taken from a USGS benchmark adjacent to the roadway.
What about CA-18? There is at least one worthy of inclusion, likely 2. However, they are not marked by Caltrans.
I am thinking of Lakeview Point (west end of the Arctic Circle and west of the dam around 7000)’, and the summit just east of Baldwin Lake (around 7100′).
I had looked into 18 but didn’t find any named summits or passes. I can add some but need a name.
Lakeview Point is named. I don’t think it has a sign but now I’m wondering about it, time to go to Streetview, lol.
The summit at Baldwin Lake is not named, unfortunately. Maybe I should nag District 8.
Ha! It is! 7112′. https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2333754,-117.0268721,3a,28.536396y,379.722260h,93.621613t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1spkQEiUuWRfvXdf8_le6cRQ!2e0
There it is. I will add it to the list. Thank you!
I can take a look at it. Sometimes just an elevation is shown but no name.
