San Diego Trolley

The San Diego Trolley was the first major new light rail system to be built in the West Coast. The first section, from downtown San Diego to San Ysidro at the border, was opened on July 26, 1981. Various extensions have expanded the system to Mission Valley, El Cajon, Santee, Lemon Grove, and La Mesa. Future plans call for an extension to the University Town Center area north of Pacific Beach.
