SR-55: Newport Blvd / Costa Mesa Freeway

ca_55_small Newport Blvd / Costa Mesa Freeway
Runs from about 1/2 mile south of SR-1 in Newport Beach to SR-91 near Orange

State 55 formerly ran along Tustin Avenue and Newport Blvd before being routed onto the freeway. The southern end of the freeway was slowly extended closer and closer to State 1 and was planned to link to it. These plans were dropped due to heavy local opposition. It now ends about 1 1/2 miles north of State 1.
