SR-76: Mission Expressway / Pala Road

SR-76
Mission Expressway / Pala Road
Runs from I-5 in Oceanside to State 79 near Lake Henshaw

Highway 76 roughly follows the course of the San Luis Rey River from near its mouth to the Lake Henshaw area. It is a varied route, being a busy commuter route from I-5 to I-15, a casino access route from I-5 to County S6 near Rincon, and a quieter two-lane route from S6 to State 79. This highway is also the main access route to Palomar Mountain, site of a large telescope. A portion of the route, from E. Vista Way (County S13) to S. Mission Road (also County S13) was the former alignment of US 395 until 1947.
