Old US 99 crossed under a branch of the Santa Fe Railroad here at the Minkler UP. The structure was built in 1933 to accommodate three lanes of traffic, though today only has two lanes passing beneath.

In 1948, as a part of the upgrade in the area to four lanes and partial freeway, the original Minkler UP was bypassed using the current SR-99 freeway alignment. This new structure, also 50-0049, was later widened in 1963. The number was moved from the original structure to the current one.
