Southern California might not be an area where you would expect a large amount of tunnels. There are quite a few in the region and some play an important role in transportation. Most are located in Los Angeles County. Some, such as the McClure Tunnel on State 1 in Santa Monica, are famous for their location. Others, such as the Shoemaker Canyon Road tunnels, have never been open to traffic and are abandoned. This page will give details of each tunnel along with photos and a map of the area.

Is there a Holland Tunnel in L.A. county?
No. There is no tunnel by that name. There are also no underwater tunnels/tubes in LA County. The nearest would be in Alameda County – the Posey and Webster Street Tubes.
